Glan Agua/MEIC Charity cycle 2017

Having recovered from the Glan Agua/MEIC charity cycle which we undertook over 2 days in 2016, the Glan Agua/MEIC team have selected a new adventure for 2017 where we aim to raise funds for another very worthy cause.

This year Glan Agua/MEIC plan to cycle from our new Regional Offices at Citywest Dublin, to Galway, which will see us cover over 200 Kms. The event is set to take place on 30th September 2017 and this year’s fundraising efforts will be donated to the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA).

The IMNDA is the only organisation of its kind in Ireland providing care and support to people with Motor Neurone Disease, their families, friends and carers.

Their website address is and here you will find lots of information on the great work that they do and the care and support that they provide to people and families affected by this debilitating condition.

We wish to thank all of our wonderful sponsors, team members, family and friend who donated so much of their time, effort and money to last year’s fundraising efforts. In total, we raised €10,104 for the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation.

The Jack & Jill Children’s Foundation provides direct funding, to families of children with brain damage up to the age of 4 who suffer severe intellectual and physical developmental delay, enabling them to purchase home respite care. They also provide end of life care to all children up to the age of 4 years. These are children who as a result of their condition require intensive home nursing care. The Foundation gives these families  the gift of time , time to do the things that we so often take for granted like shopping, taking their other children to the park, a night’s sleep etc.The value raised will provide for over 600 hours of care for families who are in need of their services.

This value could not have been raised without the extraordinary generosity of many of our partners, suppliers, subcontractors, family and friends. While we could not list all of the sponsors we would like to especially thank the following partners who donated so generously:

The event itself was a tremendous success. 13 brave souls undertook the journey which started out at the Boyle WTP at 8am on 2nd July 2016. A lunch break was had at the NEW Glan Agua & MEIC Head Offices at Loughrea, before continuing onto our overnight accommodation at the Clayton Hotel, Limerick. The sore and weary bodies set out from Limerick on 3rd July at 8am and arrived at Killarney at 5:30pm. There were many challenging hills and headwinds to contend with along the way, but each of the cycling group took turns at the front to keep the momentum going. Our brilliant support drivers Conor Skehan (Glan Agua Ltd) and Alan Finnegan (Glenside Bus Hire, Claremorris) ensured that we were kept safe on the roads and that the spirits were kept high.

Upon completion of our fundraising efforts, which also included a hugely successful coffee morning where the Glan Agua and MEIC staff displayed their culinary skills, we had raised over €10,000 euro. Jack Irwin and Cathy Keighery of the Jack and Jill Foundation graciously visited us at our offices in Loughrea to show their appreciation and to give us some insight as to the work that they do. A massive thank you must also go to Edelle Monahan of the Jack and Jill Foundation who provided us with every assistance needed to arrange the cycle fundraiser.
