Glan Agua Ltd in conjunction with our sister company, MEIC, are pleased to announce that the new Oughterard Wastewater Treatment Plant was officially opened on Tuesday 13th March 2018 by Sean Kyne, Minister of State for Rural Affairs and Natural Resources.
The new treatment plant serves the town of Oughterard and its environs in Co. Galway situated west of Lough Corrib. With a design population equivalent to cater for 2,400 people the plant ensures that wastewaters are treated to high compliance ensuring the Owenriff River, which serves as the receiving waters for the effluent, is protected for now and well into the future.
The new plant which is as state of the art facility has been designed and built by Glan Agua and MEIC in an environmentally sensitive area and of particular ecological importance as one of the most important freshwater pearl mussel rivers in Ireland.
The project is an example of what can be achieved in such areas of environmental importance and a credit to the team at Glan Agua and MEIC for delivering the project safely and without incident.
