Glan Agua Ltd and MEIC Ltd successfully transitioned to the new ISO standards, ISO 9001:2015 (Quality) and ISO 14001:2015 (Environment) and were recertified to OHSAS 18001(Safety) in October 2016. Michael Brophy, CEO of Certification Europe presented the new Certificates to Ireland and UK Branch Manager, Luis Moreira Silva on Wednesday, 11th January 2017. Also present were, Gerry Fahy, Finance Director, Aine Healy, HSQE Manager and Michael Moore, Senior Contracts Manager.
The ISO standards are the international best standards for Quality, Safety and Environmental Management. Glan Agua and MEIC were accredited to the existing ISO Standards since 2010, however, with the new Standard being released in late 2015 with a 3 year implementation cycle, the companies felt that it was imperative to transition to the new standard as soon as possible and coincided this with our Recertification in October 2016. Glan Agua and MEIC are the first companies within the Mota Engil Group to transition to the new standards.
Karl Zimmerer, Managing Director of Glan Agua said; “The ISO standards provide reassurance to our Clients that the services we provide are done so to the highest standard. It was imperative to demonstrate to our Clients that we could successfully transition to the new standard. The Management systems will support our continued growth within the DBO Water Services Market here and in the UK.”
Tom O Connor, Managing Director of MEIC, stated that ''MEIC's and Glan Agua's ability to continuously evolve to meet the challenges that these new standards require are a testament to the individual ability and commitment of each staff member in the organisation along with being proof of the teamwork of our entire workforce to work to these exacting standards. Further challenges lie ahead, but with the ISO foundations being well laid, we are confident that we can deliver for our clients and their projects to the standards that they demand.''
Luis Moreira Silva, Ireland and UK Branch Manager stated; “It is an important milestone within the Mota Engil Group to be the first area to successfully transition to the new ISO Standard”.
Michael Brophy, CEO of Certification Europe said: “Glan Agua and MEIC Ltd. are some of the first organisations we have certified to the updated standards of ISO 9001 (Quality Management) and ISO 14001 (Environment). Glan Agua and MEIC Ltd. are prime examples of companies striving to improve on current management systems, and who are adapting with positivity. From our time working with these organisations, it has been impressive to see how quickly Glan Agua and MEIC Ltd. adapted to the requirements to both updated standards. This diligence and hard work from all involved is a credit to these organisations, and we look forward to working with them again.”
The revisions to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 include greater involvement by senior management, a new structure, a risk-based focus, revised documentation requirements and a variety of other changes needed to meet standard conformance.
