Glan Agua wins audience award at the FWA Water Dragon Finals
Added March 02, 2017
Having won the FWA Water Dragons Regional Award, Glan Agua were finalists for the use of Mixed Liquor Vacuum Degassing at Cavan WWTP for the FWA Water Dragon Finals in Leamington Spa on Thursday 23 February 2017.
Glan Agua won the audience award on the night for the Biogradex Mixed Liquor Vacuum Degassing (MLVD) technology. This technology reduces CAPEX and OPEX and negates the need for tertiary treatment. Incorporated into the design of the Cavan WWTP Upgrade project (30,000 PE), use of MLVD, ensured the stringent effluent standards imposed on the municipal WWTP, were exceeded. MLVD can be retrofitted to existing nitrification plants, improving effluent standards, while increasing the capacity both hydraulic & biological. It offers a more effective TOTEX option than alternative solutions.
FWA Water Dragons
The Future Water Association Water Dragons event is a unique opportunity for members to pitch their new product, process or service to senior water company executives: the Water Dragons.
Devised in 2008, Water Dragons has become the main Innovation Award for the Future Water Association. Innovative products, services or processes put before the Water Dragons must be able to demonstrate clear and distinct benefits and identify how their innovation could make or save money for their clients; the water companies.
Three Water Dragon heats were held during 2016. The winners then pitched their innovations in a bid to become the overall winner at the Water Dragons final held in November 2016.
Our excellent Water Dragons for the final were Dan Green, Wessex Water; Tony Conway, Sheffield Water Centre; Alastair Moseley, H20 WEM; Simon Cocks, Affinity Water and Simon Dray, Hydrosave.
